Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment - WEEE
WEEE is the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment directive 2002/96/EC that makes the producer responsible for product disposal. WEEE requires that producers of electronic equipment who sell into EU countries:
  1. Label their equipment to notify customers that it needs to be recycled
  2. Take back the equipment from customers at end of life
  3. Finance its recycling and reuse
The WEEE directive takes effect on August 13, 2005 and manufacturers must meet target objectives for recycling by December 2006.

Sims Recycling Solutions engages in a wide range of activities relating to the recycling of electrical and electronic products. It is experienced in the collection and processing of both household goods and appliances (brown and white goods) and professional and industrial equipment.

The Sims process is a balance between disassembly and mechanical separation of complex materials, resulting in a minimisation of the labour intensive manual disassembly.

  • Hand Held Products BV has arranged and covered the cost for the treatment which provides for depollution, disassembly, reprocessing, recovery or preparation for disposal and any other operation carried out for the recovery or the disposal of WEEE in regards to the ElektroG.

  • First the end-user must contact the main recycling operator and inform of the products they wished to be disposed and provide their location. Then the recycling operator would identify the best location and inform the operators at these drop-off locations of the arriving WEEE.

Description of the ALBA WEEE System:

ALBA’s WEEE system offers a means of disposing of old electronic and electrical equipment using a network of local ALBA or subcontractor recycling centres. This minimizes transport distances, making it financially feasible for the end-users to deliver the WEEE to locations.

  • The end-user must give 2-3 days notice to Inter-Metalex Kft. Before delivery.
  • The delivery must be made during the following hours:

    Monday to Thursday – 7am to 3pm
    Friday – 7am to 1pm

    The transporter must notify Inter-Metalex Kft. that they are under Ageus contract and include the code EWC 160214 of the European Waste Catalogue upon delivery.
Transportation of WEEE to Treatment Operator

WEEE must be transported by a government certified logistical service or the end users will be subject to extra costs.
