Skaneateles Falls, New York – Le 30 mars 2009 - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) et Gavitec AG - mobile digit, fournisseur majeur de technologies de billetterie mobile, annoncent la disponibilité de XELIA, imageur 2D qui permet une lecture de codes à barres directement à partir d'écrans de téléphone portable ou d'assistant numérique personnel (PDA).

Dans le cadre du partenariat entre les deux sociétés, la technologie Imageur Adaptus® de Honeywell a été combinée aux solutions logicielles et matérielles spécialisées de Gavitec, pour une lecture des codes à barres sur les écrans numériques. Cette technologie répond aux besoins d'un marché en plein essor. Les consommateurs sont de plus en plus nombreux à acheter des billets ou rechercher des informations sur Internet. Les données des codes à barres sont dorénavant transmises directement par SMS sur leur téléphone portable ou PDA.

Ce procédé, désigné par le terme billetterie mobile ("mobile ticketing or m-ticketing "), marque une étape importante dans l’application numérique. En effet, les billets et coupons sont remplacés par un message électronique envoyé directement à l’utilisateur. MS4980 VuQuest ist platzsparend und scannt praktisch jeden Barcode

München, 10. März 2009 – Honeywell Scanning & Mobility stellt mit dem MS4980 VuQuest einen kompakten und vielseitigen Area-Imager vor. Der Scanner kombiniert dynamisches Scannen im Presentation-Mode mit fortschrittlichen Scan-Funktionen in hoher Qualität auf engem Raum. Er eignet sich ideal für Anwendungen, die Vielseitigkeit und eine hohe Leistung erfordern.

Ähnlich wie der bewährte MS7580 Genesis kann der MS4980 nahezu alle 1D-, PDF- und 2D-Barcodes lesen. Dazu ist der MS4980 mit einer 1.2 Megapixel-Kamera ausgestattet, mit der das Gerät hochauflösende Bilder wichtiger Information wie Unterschriften, Ausweise, beschädigter Waren und Barschecks schießen kann. Bei Bedarf können die Anwender auf das Optical Character Recognition-Verfahren (OCR) zurückgreifen und damit auf zusätzliche, spezielle Hardware verzichten. Dank eines weiten Sichtbereichs kann der MS4980 besonders breite Barcodes sowie OCR-Schriften lesen. Versatile area-imaging scanner delivers aggressive performance in a compact form

Eindhoven, The Netherlands – March 5, 2009 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced the availability of the MS4980 VuQuest, a compact yet powerful area-imaging scanner. The combination of aggressive presentation-mode scanning and advanced features allow for high-quality scanning in places where space is at a premium.  It’s ideal for applications requiring maximum versatility and strong performance.

Like Honeywell’s popular MS7580 Genesis™, the MS4980 is capable of scanning virtually all 1D, PDF and 2D bar codes. The MS4980 features a 1.2 megapixel camera that can be used to capture high-resolution images of important items including signatures, identification cards, damaged goods and personal checks. End users have the option of incorporating optical character recognition (OCR), eliminating the need for additional specialty hardware. A wide field of view allows the MS4980 to read wide bar codes and OCR fonts. These features make the scanner ideal for a broad range of applications—from retail point-of-sale to self-service kiosks to mobile ticketing systems where bar codes are read directly from the screen of a mobile device.

Des codes à barres 2D standardisés pour lutter contre la contrefaçon de médicaments et éviter les erreurs humaines dans l’industrie pharmaceutique

France, Paris –Février 2009 - Honeywell (NYSE : HON) annonce que, dans le cadre de l’application du projet de l’Union Européenne exigeant des codes à barres 2D sur l’ensemble des emballages pharmaceutiques, sa gamme de lecteurs imageurs 2D répond déjà aux besoins des clients de ce secteur. Cette réglementation vise à garantir une transparence et une traçabilité complète de la chaîne logistique en Europe. 

L'Association européenne des Pharmaciens Hospitaliers (EAHP) et la Fédération Européenne des Industries Pharmaceutiques et Associations (EFPIA) ont toutes deux appelé à une régulation sur l'attribution d'un code 2D sur tous les emballages de produits pharmaceutiques. Après une étude complète menée par l'EFPIA, le code 2D a été la technologie retenue en raison de l'importante quantité d'informations qui peut être écrite.

La législation, actuellement à l'étude, a pour but d'améliorer la sécurité des patients en réduisant la quantité de médicaments contrefaits qui circulent sur la chaîne logistique pharmaceutique européenne. Les statistiques de l'UE, dévoilées le 19 mai 2008, indiquent que 4,1 millions de médicaments ont été confisqués par les douanes aux frontières de l'UE en 2007, soit une augmentation de 51% par rapport à l'année précédente.

Grâce à l'utilisation des codes à barres, les hôpitaux et le personnel soignant peuvent ainsi améliorer la sécurité des patients en mettant en place des processus pour respecter les cinq droits du patient dans ce domaine : le bon patient, le bon médicament, le bon moment, la bonne dose et le bon protocole.   Depuis la mise en œuvre des codes à barres, un centre médical américain a par exemple constaté une baisse de 86 % des erreurs d'administration de médicaments sur une période de neuf ans.

Milano, 12 febbraio 2009 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) annuncia la disponibilità di MS4980 VuQuest™, un compatto e potente scanner con tecnologia di lettura area imaging. L’unione di una potente scansione in modalità presentazione con funzionalità avanzate, permette di realizzare letture di alta qualità in luoghi dove lo spazio è ridotto. Questo nuovo dispositivo è ideale per le applicazioni che richiedono massima versatilità e solide prestazioni.

Così come il popolare MS7580 Genesis™ di Honeywell, anche il modello MS4980 è capace di leggere tutti i codici a barre 1D, PDF e 2D. Il dispositivo è dotato di una fotocamera da 1,2 megapixel in grado di acquisire immagini ad alta risoluzione di firme, carte d’identificazione, merci danneggiate e assegni personali. Gli utenti finali hanno anche la possibilità di aggiungere la funzione riconoscimento ottico dei caratteri (OCR), eliminando così il bisogno di un ulteriore hardware specifico. L’ampio campo di visione permette all’MS4980 di leggere codici a barre larghi e caratteri OCR. Queste caratteristiche rendono lo scanner ideale per un’ampia gamma di applicazioni dai POS nei negozi, ai kiosk self service, alle applicazioni di mobile ticketing, in cui i codici a barre sono letti direttamente tramite lo schermo di un dispositivo mobile.

TotalFreedom® offre agli utenti finali e ai system integrator gli strumenti necessari per sviluppare plug-in capaci di soddisfare le specifiche esigenze di ogni applicazione. La multinterfaccia del lettore grazie al sistema “Cable Detection”e’ in grado di autoadattarsi all’host collegato senza la necessita’ di essere programmata in maniera specifica, riducendo i tempi ed i costi di gestione.

Dato che non tutte le applicazioni richiedono l’intera gamma di funzioni di scansione, Honeywell consente utilizzare la soluzione di licenza flessibile (FLS) per l’acquisto dell’MS4980. La FLS permette ai clienti selezionare solo le funzioni di codifica del dispositivo che servono effettivamente. Eventuali funzionalità aggiuntive possono essere acquistate in un secondo momento, fornendo così la possibilità di leggere nuovi simboli. “La soluzione di licenza flessibile di Honeywell rende l’MS4980  a prova di obsolescenza,” ha dichiarato Smith “Infatti, consente ai clienti di trarre vantaggi dalle funzionalità dello scanner fin da subito e offre la possibilità di aggiungere nuove funzionalità al cambiare delle esigenze. Leading-edge design reads 2D bar codes on mobile phone and PDA displays

Skaneateles Falls, N.Y. – February 17, 2009 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) and Gavitec AG - mobile digit, a leading provider of mobile ticketing technologies, today announced the availability of XELIA, an area-imaging solution that scans bar codes directly from mobile phone and PDA displays.

 The alliance combines Honeywell’s Adaptus® Imaging Technology platform with Gavitec’s specialized software and purpose-designed hardware solutions to provide a product that delivers optimal reading performance of bar codes on digital displays. This technology serves a rapidly emerging market worldwide, as consumers purchase tickets or request product information and coupons online. Bar-coded data is then sent directly to their mobile phones or PDAs via SMS.

The process, known as mobile ticketing or m-ticketing, marks an important step in the digital evolution, as paper tickets and coupons are replaced with an electronic message sent directly to a mobile device. Consumer convenience and satisfaction increases as misplaced or stolen tickets become a thing of the past. München, 15. Januar 2009 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) stellt auf der EuroCIS 2009 sowie auf der Wincor World 2009 neue Imager und Scanner für den Einzelhandel vor. In dem Geschäftsbereich Scanning & Mobility sind die Produkte und Technologien von Hand Held Products und Metrologic zusammengefasst. Beide Unternehmen hat Honeywell Ende 2007 beziehungsweise 2008 erworben. Auf der IT-Fachmesse für den Handel EuroCIS 2009 in Düsseldorf zeigt Honeywell Scanning & Mobility vom 10. bis 12. Februar in Halle 14, Stand D54 Lösungen, mit deren Hilfe der Handel Prozesse optimieren, die Kundenbindung erhöhen und Ausgaben senken kann. Auch bei der Wincor World vom 20. bis 22. Honeywell-Datenerfassungsgeräte erhöhen Sicherheit für Patienten und die Öffentlichkeit

München, 21. Januar 2009 – Die Produktfamilie der Area-Imager von Honeywell Scanning and Mobility (früher Hand Held Products) erfüllt jetzt die Anforderungen der geplanten EU-Richtlinie im Gesundheitsbereich. Diese gibt vor, dass innerhalb der Europäischen Union  sämtliche medizinischen Verpackungen mit 2D-Barcodes ausgestattet werden müssen. Ziel ist es, die Transparenz zu erhöhen und die Rückverfolgbarkeit innerhalb der komplexen europäischen Lieferkette zu gewährleisten.

Sowohl die European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP) als auch die European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) haben sich für eine derartige Regelung ausgesprochen. Als Resultat einer umfangreichen Studie  der EFPIA wurden 2D-Barcodes als die am besten geeignete Technologie ausgewählt. Dafür sprach vor allem die Fähigkeit, große Mengen an Informationen auf sehr kleinem Raum speichern zu können.

Das geplante Gesetz soll die Patientensicherheit verbessern. Zum einen soll so die Anzahl der gefälschten Medikamente innerhalb der europäischen Lieferkette verringert werden. Laut einer EU-Statistik  vom 19. Mai 2008 wurden 2007 an den EU-Grenzen 4,1 Millionen medizinische Artikel sichergestellt. Das bedeutet eine Steigerung von 51 Prozent gegenüber dem Vorjahr. Zum anderen können Krankenhäuser und Pflegepersonal die Patientensicherheit erhöhen, indem sie Prozesse einführen, die die so genannten fünf Grundsätze für mehr Patientensicherheit unterstützen: das passende Medikament für den richtigen Patienten zur richtigen Zeit in der richtigen Dosierung und korrekten Anlieferung.

Ein Beispiel aus den USA verdeutlicht den Nutzen, der mit dem Einsatz der Barcodes verbunden ist. Dort berichtet ein medizinisches Zentrum, dass seit der Umstellung auf Barcodes vor neun Jahren die falsche Verabreichung von Medikamenten um 86 Prozent verringert werden konnte.

Dezember 2008 – Honeywell Scanning and Mobility (früher Hand Held Products) präsentiert eine neue Version des Dolphin 7850: Der mobile Computer verfügt künftig über drei verschiedene Laser-Scan-Optionen, die die Datenerfassung über größere Distanzen hinweg erleichtern. So können Nutzer auch schwer zugängliche Barcodes, wie sie beispielsweise in der Lagerhaltung auftreten, problemlos scannen. Das Gehäuse des neuen Dolphin ist vor Wasser, Staub und Stößen geschützt. Neue Technologien optimieren außerdem den Energieverbrauch.

Vorteile des 7850 sind seine hohe Leistung und Lebensdauer. Zudem ist er einfach zu handhaben. Vergleichbare mobile Rechner haben in der Regel das Format größerer PDAs und lassen sich nur nachträglich mit einem Haltegriff versehen. Der kompakte Dolphin bietet ein nach schräg oben gerichtetes Display, das während des Scannens für eine gute Übersicht sorgt. Der integrierte Pistolengriff liegt auch bei längeren Arbeitsschichten komfortabel in der Hand. Ein weiteres Highlight ist das robuste Gehäuse, dessen innerer Rahmen aus einer Magnesiumlegierung besteht. Es hat in Tests bereits mehrere Stürze aus eineinhalb Metern Höhe und mehr als 2.000 Stürze aus einem Meter Höhe auf Beton überstanden. So ist der Dolphin 7850 gerüstet für den langjährigen zuverlässigen Einsatz im Einzelhandel oder in der Lagerhaltung.

Die drei Scan-Einstellungen des neuen Dolphin – High Performance, Long Range und Advanced Long Range – sorgen für einen zuverlässigen Einsatz über Entfernungen von eineinhalb bis neun Meter hinweg. Der Dolphin kann so Barcodes von Produkten auf Regalen, Paletten und Laderampen aus großer Distanz lesen. 

Der mobile Computer läuft mit Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0. Die integrierte Wi-Fi-Option, die 802.11b/g-zertifiziert ist, stellt den Zugriff auf Daten im Netzwerk in Echtzeit sicher und bietet eine standardisierte Plattform, um Applikationen zu entwickeln. Unternehmen können die Leistungsfähigkeit des Intel-Prozessors und die Größe des Speichers entsprechend späteren Einsatzbedingungen auswählen. Bedingt durch die integrierte Shift-PLUS-Technologie verbraucht das Gerät wenig Strom. So stellt der Akku beispielsweise für mehr als zehn Stunden Dauereinsatz Energie bereit.

Bar Code Scanners Provide Greater Safety for Customers and the Public

EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands – December 15, 2008 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced that its full line of area-imaging scanners meet the requirements of healthcare customers preparing for the planned EU initiative that will require 2D bar codes on all pharmaceutical packaging within Europe. The regulation aims to provide transparency and full traceability within the complex European supply chain. 

The European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP) and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) have both called for a regulation that requires pharmaceuticals to carry a 2D bar code on their packaging. After an extensive study  by the EFPIA, 2D bar codes were selected as the technology of choice due to their ability to store large amounts of information in limited amounts of space. 

The pending legislation is designed to improve patient safety by reducing the level of counterfeit medicine within the European pharmaceutical supply chain. EU statistics  released on 19 May 2008 confirm that 4.1 million medicinal articles were detained at EU customs borders in 2007, a 51% increase over the previous year. 

Hospitals and nurses can take further action to improve patient safety by instituting processes to ensure what is known as the five rights of patient safety: right patient, right drug, right  time, right dose and right route of delivery. The use of bar coding in healthcare settings can dramatically improve patient safety. A United States-based medical center reported an 86% reduction in medication errors over a nine-year period, since the implementation of bar coding.  “We offer a complete range of area-imaging bar code scanners, including industrial-grade scanners for the supply chain, disinfectant-ready housings for point-of-care in hospitals and high-throughput presentation scanners for point-of-sale in pharmacies. New long-range laser scanning in the latest Dolphin® 7850 Mobile Computer

Skaneateles Falls, NY – December 12, 2008 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced the latest release of its popular Dolphin 7850 Mobile Computer. Designed to be the ultimate scanning solution for in-premise mobile data collection, the Dolphin 7850 features a water, dust and shock resistant casing, power management, and now three new long-range laser scanning options that bring distant or hard-to-reach bar codes into user’s hands.

The 7850 is developed for high performance, high endurance, and easy ergonomic operation. Similar mobile computers on the market are typically larger, flat PDA-style devices retrofitted with an add-on grip handle underneath. In contrast, the compact and lightweight 7850 has an upward angled screen for convenient viewing and a comfortable integrated pistol grip that is easy to hold during extended shifts. The rugged chassis, composed of an internal magnesium alloy frame, has been tested to endure multiple drops onto concrete from 1.5 meters and over 2,000 tumbles from 1 meter, guaranteeing reliable operation and durability in retail and warehouse environments.

Complaint Filed to Protect Intellectual Property

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ, Nov. 5, 2008 – Honeywell Scanning & Mobility, through its subsidiary Omniplanar, Inc., filed a lawsuit against Datalogic S.p.A and Datalogic Scanning, Inc. on October 22, 2008 in United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.  Honeywell’s claims against Datalogic relate to its Omniplanar’s SwiftDecoder Software and include copyright infringement; violation of Digital Millennium Copyright Act; breach of contract; misappropriation of trade secrets; and violation of N.J.S.A. 2A:38A-3 .   The complaint alleges that these violations may include all of Datalogic’s 2D imaging products including Gryphon, Power Scan, Lynx, Magellan, Kyman, JET and Matrix.  Honeywell is seeking monetary damages, injunctive relief, and impoundment of the violative software.

Honeywell a déposé une plainte contre Datalogic relative à son logiciel SwiftDecoder d'Omniplanar pour violation du droit d'auteur, violation de la loi Digital Millennium Copyright Act, rupture de contrat, détournement de secrets de fabrication, et violation de la loi 2A:38A-31 du Sénat du New Jersey. Selon la plainte, ces violations pourraient concerner tous les produits d'imagerie 2D de Datalogic comme Gryphon, Power Scan, Lynx, Magellan, Kyman, JET et Matrix. Honeywell demande des dommages et intérêts financiers, une procédure d'injonction et la saisie du logiciel incriminé.

Eindhoven, The Netherlands – Sept. 25, 2008 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced its newest addition to the 3800 linear bar code scanner family to meet the needs of customers who require maximum durability from their bar code scanning solution. Designed for use in manufacturing, backroom retail, warehouse and distribution or other extreme industrial environments, the new 3820i Industrial Cordless Linear Imager is ready to use indoors or outdoors in a range of temperatures and operating conditions where less rugged barcode scanners won’t survive.

Based on the benefits of a proven product line, the 3820i builds on many of the reliable design and technology benefits of the 3800 — no moving parts, integrated Adaptus® Imaging Technology 5.0 and an optimized blend of ergonomics and durability.

Founded on performance and endurance, the 3820i is backed by a three-year warranty and has been tested to withstand fifty drops onto hard concrete from six-and-a-half feet (two meters), simulating standard industrial conditions. Independently IP54 certified, the 3820i is water and dust resistant, making it the ideal solution for any environment where dirt and moisture render other scanners unusable. The device withstands temperatures ranging from below freezing to extreme heat while still providing enough power to read bar codes that are dirty or damaged from intense environments. Wireless communication is handled via Bluetooth v2.0, allowing a maximum range of 33 feet (10 meters) between the scanner and the base, and eliminating potentially dangerous cables from fast-paced work areas. Up to seven different 3820i units can connect to a single base, adding value and simplicity to installations that require multiple scanners. To prevent loss of information and wasted time, the scanner can keep up to 500 bar codes in memory for times when the unit is unable to transmit to the base. Neue Scanner der Produktfamilie 3800g lesen zweidimensionale Codes sowie Codes mit hoher Dichte

August 2008 – Honeywell Imaging and Mobility präsentiert zwei neue Scanner aus der Produktfamilie 3800g: Mit ihnen können Unternehmen spezielle Barcodes erfassen wie sie vor allem im Elektronik- und Maschinenbaubereich zum Einsatz kommen. So kann der 2D-Barcode PDF417 beispielsweise mehr Daten als der klassische Barcode speichern. Er kommt bei der Kennzeichnung von Inventar, Management-Systemen, Identifikationskarten oder Versandlabels zum Einsatz. Lineare Barcodes mit hoher Dichte sind insbesondere dann geeignet, wenn es darum geht, kleine Gegenstände zu kennzeichnen. Um diese neuen Anforderungen zu erfüllen, hat Honeywell seine 3800g-Scannerfamilie überarbeitet und die Geräte 3800gPDF und 3800gHD mit neuen Funktionen ausgestattet: Die speziellen Barcodes sind jetzt kein Problem mehr.

Bei der Entwicklung hat Honeywell besonderen Wert auf Ergonomie und Langlebigkeit gelegt: So werden keine beweglichen Teile verbaut, die leistungsfähige Adaptus Imaging Technologie 5.0 kommt zum Einsatz und auf die Geräte gibt es fünf Jahre Garantie. Blackwood, New Jersey – June 30, 2008 -- Metrologic Instruments announced today the availability of a flexible licensing solution for Genesis. Launched in December 2007, Genesis is the world’s first presentation area imager engineered to scan all standard printed and electronic 1D, PDF and 2D matrix codes. Genesis makes history again, as the first scanner in the industry to offer a flexible licensing solution.

This flexible licensing solution will be compatible with Metrologic’s complete line of imaging products, beginning with Genesis. A base version of Genesis that reads 1D linear bar codes only is now available. Scanner functionality can be enhanced by purchasing additional decoding licenses:

    * PDF: enables reading of PDF417 and microPDF417 symbologies
    * 2D matrix: enables reading of Datamatrix, Aztec, QR, Maxicode, Postal codes and other matrix symbologies

All Genesis scanners will continue to deliver a rich set of features, including an intelligent multi-interface design, image capture capabilities and superior motion tolerance. Juni 2008 – Honeywell Imaging and Mobility führt ein neues Service-Programm ein: Mit „Service Made Simple“ ™ garantiert Honeywell eine schnelle und qualitativ hochwertige Reparatur seiner Geräte. Das Programm umfasst alle Scanner sowie die Dolphin Mobilcomputer. Interessierte Kunden können zwischen zwei Varianten wählen. Das Programm gilt je nach Bedarf für drei oder fünf Jahre Laufzeit, basierend auf der Standard-Garantiedauer des jeweiligen Geräts.

Um die anfallenden Reparaturen kümmern sich qualifizierte Honeywell-Techniker, die beispielsweise auch Probleme aufgrund von Abnutzungserscheinungen oder Schäden durch Unfälle beheben. In diesen Service-Leistungen sind alle notwendigen Ersatzteile und Arbeitszeit enthalten. Außerdem garantiert Honeywell eine Reparatur innerhalb von drei Tagen und eine Rücksendung über Nacht, um die Ausfallzeiten so gering wie möglich zu halten. Mit der ISO-Zertifizierung erfüllt der Code nun eine Marktanforderung von Unternehmen aller Größenordnungen.

Blackwood, New Jersey – December 17, 2007 -- Metrologic Instruments, Inc. today announced the release of the IS4920, a miniature mega-pixel imaging engine with a hardware decoder. Original equipment manufacturers (OEM) can easily integrate the high-performance engine into a wide range of devices whose applications demand robust omnidirectional scanning of 1D and 2D bar codes.

The IS4920 joins Metrologic’s IS4910, which was released in August 2007. As the first member of Metrologic’s imaging engine line, the non-decoded IS4910 is intended for OEM’s desiring full control of the camera and decoding software libraries on their embedded microprocessors.

The IS4920 captures high-resolution images and decodes bar codes in applications associated with mobile computers, hand-held scanners, self-service and payment kiosks, identity verification, medical/diagnostic instruments and lottery terminals. Since the IS4920 draws approximately half the operating current of comparable products (235 mA of current at 3.3 volts), it is well-suited for battery-powered devices.

“The IS4920 was designed and built to meet the often underestimated needs of integrators,” said Mark Schmidt, Metrologic’s vice president of product management and marketing. “The IS4920 enables integrated devices to decode the widest set of symbologies and OCR fonts – including bar codes scratched, torn, poorly printed, worn or wrapped in clear plastic – at the industry’s highest rates for speed and aggressiveness. At the core of the IS4920’s aggressive performance is a 400-mHz processor, which gives the engine more than double the processing speed of comparable products. The IS4920’s industry-standard form factor features a 1.2 mega-pixel sensor with a wide-angle lens that covers twice the scan area of competing products. This optical architecture eliminates the scanning dead zone associated with comparable devices by offering a depth of field over 11 inches and unmatched up-close scanning which starts one inch from the face of the engine. A built-in aiming LED simplifies targeting and makes scanning intuitive.

The IS4920 can be used for scanning bar codes as well as for uploading images in applications such as capturing signatures and lifting documents. It provides consistent scan performance under any ambient light condition from complete darkness to direct sunlight.

Patented FirstFlash® technology enables the IS4920 to decode bar codes with a single flash of illuminating LEDs. With CodeSelect™, the IS4920 decodes multiple bar codes captured in a single image and then transmits the data in any pre-determined order. SwiftDecoder® software from Omniplanar®, gives the engine the power to decode bar codes as dense as four mil (0.102 mm). The IS4920 also reads application specific optical-character-recognition (OCR) fonts such as those found on passports and checks.

With its open-system architecture which accepts third-party and custom plug-ins, the IS4920 has virtually unlimited application flexibility. The imager and decode board can be ordered as an assembled module or separate components. Metrologic also supplies a software development kit to facilitate development of customized plug-ins.

Très puissant, le Dolphin 7900 intègre le GPS sans le moindre compromis en termes de robustesse et de qualité des communications vocales. Le GPS étant intégré, aucun raccordement supplémentaire n'est requis. De plus, le terminal mobile peut être utilisé avec la plupart des logiciels de GPS. Un raccordement sur circuit assure le maintien du contact entre la radio GPS et le 7900.

Reposant sur la technologie Imageur Adaptus™ 5.0, le Dolphin 7900 avec GPS est capable de lire des codes à barres linéaires et 2D, et de capturer des images numériques. De plus, grâce à son système de gestion de l'alimentation Shift-PLUS™, il supporte une journée de travail complète avec GPS et GPRS fonctionnant en continu, ce qui permet de traiter des données sans interruption et d'améliorer la productivité.
