Captuvo is the combination of two Latin words:

  • - “Captura” which means “capture” (to enter (data) into a computer for processing or storage)
  • - “Juvo” which means “help/assist” (to give assistance or support to)

Together, they mean: “To help capture”

Honeywell has developed the ability to add customizable stickers to the sleds. These rugged stickers have been tested in their deployment environment and can increase brand recognition and awareness among your customer base. If interested, please contact your Honeywell representative for more information.
Captuvo requires special application software (iOS apps) to capture and process bar code and magnetic stripe data. Get the SDK here:

Yes, Captuvo protects the Apple® device from multiple drops to concrete from 4 feet as well as hundreds of 0.5 meter tumbles. Unlike many competitive offerings, Captuvo does provide added protection. Testing shows that Captuvo is up to 3x more reliable than its competitors and can reduce the failure rate of someone using a competitive offering by as much as 80% leading to leading to smaller spares pools, less time wasted and less lost revenue.
Yes, when the Apple® device needs power the most, the sled battery (if power is available) will provide a charge to the Apple device, increasing user uptime.

The following products have an optional MSR. Please see regional price books or contact your Honeywell representative for correct product number.

  • Captuvo SL22 for iPod touch
  • Captuvo Sl42 for iPhone 5/5s
  • Captuvo SL62 for iPad mini
Yes, the integrated MSR is encryption-ready, and supports DES, TDES and AES encryption and DUKPT key management. While not required, MSR encryption is highly recommended as it reduces PCI DSS (Data Security Standard) scope which leads to lower certification costs and more importantly, it dramatically helps reduce merchants' security risk by encrypting cardholder data as the card is swiped.
No, but we have several partners that do support key injection; please contact your Honeywell representative for a recommendation.
All merchants must comply with PCI DSS which Captuvo is a small part of. To simplify or reduce the scope (and cost) of PCI DSS compliance, it is recommended that an encrypted MSR be used which eliminates "clear text" cardholder data from their environment.
No, Captuvo does not currently support chip and PIN; only magnetic stripe cards (credit/gift)
